Toni Parkes’ Legacy

Thank you for helping us create a legacy. Watch the video below to learn more about the purpose of this project.

“Hello, my name is Hollis Edwards, and I’m excited to talk to you about something that’s very near and dear to my heart: the Winter Joy Project. The Winter Joy Project is very near and dear to my heart because it honors a person who was extremely important to me, in my life, and that’s my mom, Toni Parkes. My mom had the heart of a giver, and she wanted to make sure that kids had the things that they needed–whether it was hats, scarves, or gloves in the wintertime. If she saw kids out in the rain, waiting on transportation, running to recess: as odd as it may sound, she actually wanted to make sure that they had the articles that they needed (and that maybe their parents had forgotten to give them that day). My mom didn’t have a lot of extra money, but she had a huge heart, and she had a heart for kids. So as you are participating in this Winter Joy Project, know that this is not something that we just came up with out of thin air: this is truly something that my mom believed in. This is something that she used to do anonymously, and this is something that myself, and my family, are doing to honor her name, honor her contributions to society, and to create a legacy. My mom was a great person. You would have loved her if you had an opportunity to meet her. Every time you donate, every time that you contribute to the Winter Joy Project, you are helping a child get the things that they need, and you are helping fulfill the desire and the passion of my mom. Thank you for your contribution, thank you for your time, thank you for your donation, and thank you for helping us bring this Winter Joy Project to a reality.”
